Headache due to Sinus

Like insomnia, another major diseases that causes headache is Sinus. In such situation it is important to identify sinus as the cause of headache and treat sinus, instead of taking medication for headache. Headache due to sinus is characterized by severe cold, mild fever and pain starting from eyebrows and effecting half head. If untreated, sinus can lead to other major diseases like asthma.

Foods to avoid in Sinus:

  • Avoid consuming alcohol and fatty foods during sinus.
  • Coffee and other caffeine containing food products causes dehydration in body, which can lead to clogging of nostrils. Clogged nostrils makes sinus more painful.
  • Avoid taking cold food and drinks, which can elevate the condition and increase the headache.
  • Spicy food. For some eating spicy food leads to unclogging of nostrils. But other patients should avoid taking spicy foods.

Home Remedies to treat Sinus:

  • Steam bath is an effective way of relaxing body and controlling symptoms of sinus and cold. If possible, try to take facial steam 3-4 times in a day. While taking facial steam add few drops of eucalyptus oil to water.
  • Take plenty of water as sinus causes dehydration in body, which further elevates its symptoms.
  • Clean your nostrils with salt water. Salt will kill virus and bacteria in nose and help in controlling the disease.
  • Vegetable soup is very beneficial in relieving sinus and cold. Take 300 gms carrot, 100 gms beet root, 200 grams spinach, ginger and garlic and boil them in water to make soup. Add salt and black pepper to it and lemon for taste. Take this soup while it is hot, atleast twice a day.
  • Take 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds (methi dana) and boil them in 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Separate the liquid and consume this liquid while hot.
