ALOE VERA

The factor common between Ayurveda, Chinese herbal medicine and British herbal medicine is a small plant with prickly and bitter leaves called Aloe Vera. Seen as an important ingredient for home remedies, the design of prickly leaves saves the plant from animals and insects. The leaves house a gooey and translucent gel, which is extremely bitter, made of about 96% water, some organic and inorganic compounds, Vitamin A, B, C and E along with a type of protein which contains 18 of the 20 amino acids found in the human body. This gel is used in health products today. The aloe gel is primarily used as a skin remedy for issues such as burns, sunburn, frostbite, psoriasis and cold sores and it can also be taken orally for skin conditions including osteoarthritis, bowel diseases, constipation and fever.
