Food & Beverages to treat Headaches

The next in the series is what food and drinks one should take when one is suffering from headache. These foods and drinks complement overall effect of medicine and treatment to give better result and early relief.

  • Curd: Deficiency of calcium can be one of the reasons causing headache. In such case curd not only gives calcium to body but also dissipates excess heat in body that can also add to headache. But remember to take curd with salt instead of sugar.
  • Watermelon: Dehydration in the body is one reason of headache that can be overcome by having watermelon.
  • Muskmelon: along with water it also contains magnesium in abundance, which is again beneficial to control headaches.
  • Almonds: With high magnesium contents, almonds have always been considered good for brain development. Same magnesium is also beneficial in treatment of headaches.
  • Potato: Potassium, vitamin A and Vitamin B6 is present in potatoes, all three aides in curing headaches.
  • Salomon: Salomon fish is a good source of vitamin B12, which is beneficial for treating headaches.
  • Beetroot: Beetroot increases iron content in blood and helps in treating headaches.

Along with foods, certain drinks can also be consumed to treat headache in long term and also give instant relief.

  • Lemonade: headaches caused due to heatstroke can be treated with fresh lemonade, as it cools body and mind temperature.
  • Water: dehydration of brain cells is more often than not is the most common cause of headache. In such situation even a simple glass of water to hydrate the body can give relief in headaches.
  • Fish oil: Omega 3 fatty acids are present in abundance in fish oil, which normalizes blood pressure, as a result of which headache is often treated.
  • Tomato Soup: Sugar, vitamins and minerals are present in tomato soup, which nourishes the body and mind and can relieve headache.
  • Coffee & Tea: Relieving stress sometimes lead to curing headache, and with caffeine and nicotine present in tea and coffee many people feels relaxed.
  • Almond milk: It not only hydrates body, nourishes mind but also treats headache.
